LET'S ROAR


At the beginning of every year, Take 5 Oil Change treats their 2000+ shop managers to a two-day conference full of fun, learning, and recognition. The theme for 2025 was “Let’s Roar,” set at the beautiful Coronado Springs in Disney World, Florida.


Our mission was to capture the entire two-day event and piece together a recap video that would be showcased at the end. Easy, right? Well, it took four videographers, one committed editor, and plenty of Disney World coffee to accomplish the feat.



ThE BREAKDOWN



We arrived a day early to familiarize ourselves with the venue and to set up everything we would need, including our editing bay and video booth. Two of our videographers manned the booth during the first day of the convention, capturing grey shirt goodbyes (closing statements to customers given by oil change employees) using a simple two-point lighting set-up and backdrop. The greatest challenge? Actually getting oil technicians to step in front of the camera. What can we say, their confidence is found in the car bay, not the spotlight. Nevertheless, they knocked it out of the park, and we managed to capture roughly twenty goodbyes.



Break-out sessions for shop managers and a slew of conferences filled the rest of the frame, with a highlight being a speech given by legendary football player Ray Lewis. His presence erupted the main conference room. Even some of our team couldn’t hold back their excitement. One of the best perks of this job is getting access to some of the most prolific, brilliant performers and figureheads of our time. Our cameras are our VIP passes, and boy did we get to use them. Most shots were captured handheld while some required stabilizers.



Unfortunately, we were unable to film the company trip to Animal Kingdom (the Mouse’s rules, not ours), but the overall hype at the convention center gave us tremendous footage to work with. Especially whenever one of our own videographers suited up as the Take 5 Oil Change mascot Canny and dominated the conference floor. The costume reeked of weed from a previous performer, but he used it to his advantage and rode the high of the night.



Partnership


Our greatest memories are built on the friendships with our partners. Spending a few days at Disney with the event staff is the cherry on top to a long-term collaboration with Take 5, and we look forward to bringing their vision to life continually in the new year.
